About Mandara

Significance of the Hibiscus Flower

I chose to use the name Mandara as it reflects part of my own personal name Amanda, in fact, close family and friends would often call me just "Manda" or "Mandy".

The verb Mandar in Spanish means to give and Mandara is used in the Sanskrit language, meaning Coral Tree. It also refers to a Hindu mythical story of the "churning of the ocean" used to create the elixir of immortality. This mythological connection has symbolic meanings of strength, stability and the pursuit of higher goals. Something that most of us hope for.

In English, Japanese, Hawaiian and other cultures, the Mandara Flower, otherwise known as the HIBISCUS has further spiritual significance symbolising Beauty, Purity, Love, Friendship and Healing, whilst offering the sacred Hibiscus Flowers to the Gods, is said to bring blessings and good fortune.  The Hibiscus Flower Tea, is believed to be beneficial for heart health by helping to lower blood pressure and cholesterol, and it is rich in antioxidants that protect against cell damage.

I believe in supporting, nurturing, balancing and protecting the Body, Mind and Spirit through the benefits that natural holistic therapies, movement and protective spiritual practices can provide.

My aim is to provide a high standard of personal service, care and professionalism, whilst offering a positive, warm and empathic approach, so whatever stage of your life-journey you are on and your motivation to receive Holistic Therapy or to do Pilates, the focus is about helping you to feel better, valued, happy, relaxed and treated as the wonderful beautiful soul that you are.  Often we need reminding!
